Now, before we begin, we want to make a couple of things clear:
1) We are not anti-kids. We like kids. In fact, we love kids. But, whether by choice or circumstance, we just do not happen to have kids.
2) We are not anti-Mommies Who Blog. We like Mommies Who Blog. In fact, some of our best friends are Mommies Who Blog. We got the blessing of those best friends before starting this adventure.
3) We don't want to exclude anyone. That's not our purpose. We're not into alienating people. And we certainly don't want anyone to feel left out. This is a positive community, not a negative one. Its purpose is to create a place for Not Mommy Blogs to hang out and be showcased. There are plenty of communities dedicated solely to Mommies Who Blog, but Not a Single One for the Not Mommy Blogs.

Whew. Glad we have that out of the way.
Onto the introductions. My name's Katie of Chicken Noodle Gravy, and my co-founder is Bernie of One Mixed Bag. Bernie and I have been kicking this idea around for quite some time, but for various reasons, we're just now getting around to putting it into motion. This week Bernie was searching on google for communities and networks for bloggers who don't have kids, and...There. Are. None. A fact that finally got our butts in gear.
We want We're Not Mommy Blogs to be a place for blog hops, networking, and friendship. We want it to be a resource for The Rest of Us, because we are a vastly ignored population in the blogging community and that needs to be fixed.
We're Not Mommy Blogs will be offering a weekly linkup on Fridays. In addition to the linkup, you also have the option of officially joining the We're Not Mommy Blogs network by adding your blog to our Blog Directory. The only "rule" for adding your blog to our directory? You must add our button to your blog. That's all we ask!
We hope you enjoy your time at We're Not Mommy Blogs!
Ohhh the site is beautiful!! You two did a great job. :) I am hopefully the first one to put your brand spankin' new shiny button on my blog. I love that there is a place for us to meet other non-moms! I do love kids but I can't relate very well when you tell me your toddler kept you up all week, other than to say bummer. I hope many bloggers find this a great place to meet and mingle! Thank you Katie and Bernie.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for linking up and saying hi! We are glad to have you here. I know that you also thought this was a great idea when Katie and I first started talking about this. Thanks for being our first post!!
DeleteThank you for stopping by! We're super excited and really appreciate your support. Bernie says you've been supportive from the start, and I want you to know how much that means to us. We hope this will be a great community, and with you joining, it's already off to a great start :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous looking blog!!! Yay for the two of you!!! I am sure you are going to have a huge following!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by, Beth Ann! We can use all the encouragement we can get. :)
DeleteThanks, Beth Ann! We hope you're right, and we appreciate your support :)
DeleteHey - I totally love this. I hope IVF might actually work this yr ( my 3rd and final attempt) but whether it does or does not, count me in :) I've often thought these exact same things. Mommies blogs are everywhere, it can get annoying, esp when one cannot be a mother. Its a constant source of irritant, and even occasional upset. X
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining, Shah! That is what this community is for. We love Mom Blogs, we just want to be able to have a spot for all Non-Mom blogs in one spot. We are scattered all over the web, so its nice to have one spot for all.
DeleteThanks for stopping by and welcome, Shah! We understand completely and hope that this will serve as a community for connection and friendship.
DeleteI am so excited about this community... Bernie thanks so much for inviting me! It is amazing and sad at the same time that there we no non-mom communities before this one, but how cool is it that you guys are the first. Yeah both of you!!! We non mommies have to stick together!
ReplyDeleteHilary, when we first started this blog, you were on my mind. I know that there are a few of us who don't have kids and loved the idea of being able to find us all in one spot. Thank you for adding your button!
DeleteAbsolutely we do! Thanks for joining us, Hilary :)
DeleteKudos to you, Katie! Abby and I have been talking about this for months but never got it pulled off. I'll definitely be joining and will add your button to my blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Catherine! I think Abby mentioned to me one time that you guys had talked about this forever, too. It's definitely been missing for awhile now. Glad that you'll be joining in!
DeleteWelcome aboard, Catherine. Thank you so much for adding our button to your blog!
DeleteAn awesome and timely idea. (I was just beginning to wonder if there were any non mom blogging comms. :) )
ReplyDeleteThank you. We kept wondering the same thing and didn't find any. So after a few months of kicking the idea around we decide to make one! So glad to have you with us.
DeleteI am so totally stoked about this, you have no idea!
ReplyDeleteWe are glad to hear that. We were pretty thrilled when we finally got off our lazy butts and got it up and running!!
